2022 Home Run Derby

We will have a $5 (Cash or Venmo ONLY) buy-in home run derby following Closing Ceremonies on Monday, May 23. The buy-in gives you 5 swings.

All of the proceeds will benefit Ammon Johanson (read more about Ammon below). We will have a winner in each division (AA, AAA, Majors and Pony). Anyone over the age of 13 can participate in the Pony division.

Ammon Johanson is 14 years old and has played Little League baseball since he was old enough to sign up. Ammon continues to play this year in spite of his condition. He has been dealing with an aggressive case of Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP), a rare disease impacting the kidneys.

Ammon spent a lot of time in ICU and Primary Children’s hospital in January and February this year. His kidneys are functioning at 55% capacity, which is a great improvement from 10%. He still has another 6 months of recovery to get his kidneys, hopefully, up to at least 90%.

Because of his condition, Ammon can’t go to school. Going to baseball this season is the only thing he looks forward to and the only activity he does out of the home. His condition has induced glaucoma, which makes it hard to read. When up to bat, it is hard for him to track the ball, but he hit two singles last week! He plays on the Pony Pirates team.

Little League is happy to support Ammon with our Home Run Derby fund-raiser.

If you can’t make it to the home run derby and would still like to donate to Ammon, you can Venmo his mother @Monica-Johanson.

More information about HSP can be found here.
